2019 Receipts, 2020 Visions

2019. Whoa- what happened here? One minute I was kicking 2018 and its entire rollercoastery vibes out of the way, and the next minute everyone is talking about a new decade. It has most certainly been ‘one for the books.’ And I am counting receipts and looking forward to the new intentions set for 2020.

I’m grateful for all of you and the treasures this year has offered. I have regained a place where we can connect, attended and spoken at some pretty dope conferences, went on the retreat of a lifetime, truly pushed myself beyond comfortable, and developed a thirst for more.

My theme this year was authenticity. More specifically my motto was ‘I am me always. I am crafting new things. I am unapologetic. I am always me’. I feel like for the most part that was what shined through this year. I am genuine in the work I put forth and refuse to be someone else to appease the comfort levels of others.

As I approach 2020, I reach towards the theme of clarity, towards fine-tuning the lessons I’ve learned, towards truly seeing me—my authentic self—and what I’m worth (and believing it), and laying the foundations for the vision I have been given. I’m stepping away from hindrances like toxic energy, the act of leaving myself as the last priority, and the excuses and anxieties that I allowed to hold me back from my fullest potentials. These things must go in the trash!

As much as I understand that I am not perfect, I also understand that this thought does not negate my efforts to be my best, a compassionate provider, a justice-seeking black woman, and a kind human.

My prayer and intent for the New Year (new decade) for you is that you will continue to live life to its fullest—seeking to be the best and highest version of yourself, to make waves that you didn’t even know were possible, and to recognize the greatness of humanity and how you contribute to it.
